Performance Comparison Of Three Common Bearing Materials

2021-01-20

The three common materials of bearings are: metallic materials, porous metallic materials and non-metallic materials.

1. Metal materials

Bearing metal materials mainly include: bearing alloy, copper alloy, aluminum base alloy and cast iron.

Bearing alloy: also known as Babbitt alloy which mainly contains tin matrix and lead matrix, good comprehensive performance, mild mechanical low, common in bearing alloy cast in steel or cast iron bearing substrate, the use of expensive.

Copper alloys: mainly include tin bronze (suitable for medium, medium or heavy loads), aluminum bronze (suitable for low speed and heavy loads) and lead bronze (suitable for high speed and heavy loads).

Cast iron: belongs to light load, low speed bearing material.

2. Porous metal materials

The porous metal materials of bearings are mainly made of powder metallurgy, iron or copper powder mixed with graphite and pressed and sintered, and the porous oil is stored.Used for stable load, low speed and inconvenient refueling.

3, non-metallic materials

The non-metallic materials of bearings mainly include: plastic, rubber and nylon. Its characteristics are: small coefficient of friction, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, low load, large thermal deformation.
